This page is the refund policy. It matches the Terms. If something here and the Terms ever conflict, the refund that is better for you on that point is the one we will follow.
The short version
The 20% at bid time is a hold, not a charge. If you are outbid, it is released.
We only keep money if you win a spot, we capture the bid, the campaign hits $175,000 in captured winning bids, we can actually buy the airplane, and I approve the mark.
$175,000 is the number that buys the airplane. If every spot sold at the opening prices, the floor is about $14,750. That is not a funded hull.
If any of those fail, you get your money back. Nobody gets painted.
Holds vs charges
| What happened | What we do with money |
|---|---|
| You bid | 20% authorization hold on the card. Statement should say Brand My Plane. |
| You are outbid | Hold is released, not captured. |
| Hold is about to expire (card networks often drop an authorization after about a week) | We may re-authorize the same 20%. If that fails, the bid may fall off. |
| Campaign misses $175,000 | No remaining balances are captured. Holds released. Anything already captured is refunded in full. We do not buy the plane. Nobody is painted. |
| Goal is met, but we cannot buy the airplane (inspection, title, airworthiness, financing, deal dies) | Same unwind: holds released, captured money refunded in full. We will not keep it for a later airplane unless you opt in in writing after we tell you. |
| We refuse your mark | That bid does not stand. Hold released. If we had captured it, we refund that bid. |
| You win, then the card will not take the balance | You forfeit the spot. We do not count that bid toward the $175,000. We may offer the spot again. |
| Airplane is later sold, destroyed, or repainted | No refund just because the display ended. The product was the paint and the campaign display, not a set number of years. |
| You change your mind after a bid is placed | Bids are not retractable. Outbid and refusal are the ways a bid comes off. |
When the rest is charged
The remaining 80% is not charged the moment the clock hits zero.
We charge a winning bid only if you still hold the spot, the goal can be met in captured money, we reasonably believe the purchase can proceed, and the mark is approved or still in ordinary review.
If the goal is missed, we do not take the rest.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the same card or payment method Stripe used. Card-issuer timing is out of our hands. We start the refund when the unwind is triggered.
If a hold was never captured, there is nothing to refund. The hold is released.
Timing of the work
This is not an 8-week mail-order item. Close is October 31, 2026. A plane purchase and a certified paint job, if they happen at all, come after that. Dates can slip if a pre-buy fails, a shop is booked, or a strip finds corrosion.
If we have captured your money and a long delay means we cannot deliver the paint in a reasonable time after purchase, we will offer a refund of that captured amount. Email us and we will say where the job stands.
Chargebacks
If something here says you get a refund, email scott@brandmyplane.com first. We will unwind it. A chargeback on a bid that is still live can forfeit the spot.
